Mom's Strawberry Nut Salad

Ingredients:

· 1 (6oz) pkg. Strawberry Jello

· 1 cup boiling water

· 3 medium banananas, mashed

· 1 cup chopped pecans

· 2 (10 oz) pkg frozen strawberries , thawed & drained

· 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, drained

· 2 cups sour cream

Combine Jello and boiling water in large measure cup. Stir until Jello is dissolved.

Its always my mom, dad, brother, grandmother and I. The boys uaually just sit in the living room and watch tv.We just sit around and watch the huntin channel

While my mom is making the dessert the guys usually go get a little bite every now and then. Mostly its just me because I like the taste of the jello mix. Usually my dog jake would go sit by the stove waiting for a crumb to drop.

My mom would say:

“Cale come get your dog hes in the way.”

So I would call him into the living room.

“ Jake come here.”

That would go on till they were dione cooking.

Add bananas, pecans, strawberries, and pineapple. Stir, divied in half.

The whole time im eating the bananas, and strawberries. That why my mom always bujys more then she needs.

 Pour half into a 12x8 inch glass pan. Refridgerate until set- about an hour.

While it is setting they start cokking some other kind of food. So I walk in there to see what they are cooking and Jake follows me in there. I leave out of the kitchen and he does the same.

Keep remaining jello at room temperture. Spread sour cream evenly over partially set jello in pan.

While mom and grandma are spreadin the sourcream im in there sayin:

“Why are you using sour cream, why don’t you use whipped cream?” My mom says, “that is what the recipe says”.

So I go back to what I was doing watchin the huntin channel with my dad and brother. We are already ready for the weekend to duck hunt. My dog jake is even ready, Jake was my duck dog. He did everything woth me.

Pour reamaining Jello mixture. Cover refrigerate until set. About 1½ hours or just over night.

So whenever my mom and grandma gets done with all the cooking, the family watch tv untile we get tired. The next day we are so ready to eat what they cooked. I love my moms strawberry nut salad. But the only thing that is going to change is that jake is no longer here. But we made plenty of memories so me and my new dog bear are gonna make many more over the christmasas. We already have made a lot, but I want to make a lot more.
